C1920-1922, 15 1/4 x 11 1/2 inches, loose colour plates as issued, depicting early Chinese textile designs. Original set had 36 plates, missing here are seven plates 1, 6, 17, 28, 29, 31, and 32. Plates are believed to have been made using stencil/pochoir technique which was promoted by some French artists in the 1920s and the 30s to get vibrant colours. Tile label is pasted on the paper on board cover. Plate 21 has writing in pencil in the border, and a couple of lines on the plate; plate 22, has a small open tear to the lower left corner. String ties on the cover are lost. Spine is made of cloth and is weak. Corners of the cover boards are of cloth and show wear. Cover and content pages are creased and have small chips.
