Book Description Livraria AGIR Editora, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, 1970. Softcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Albert Eckhout (illustrator). A large portfolio containing 20 mounted prints of birds of Brazil by the seventeenth-century Dutch painter Albert Eckhout, done in the time when the Dutch had colonized Brazil. A 5-page introduction in Portugese and English is followed by the prints. All prints are in fine condition; the brown heavy paper portfolio cover has some creases, and a 1" tear at a side fold where (this is a true story), a former owner's parrot tore at it. The tear does not affect the prints. Aside from that, this is a handsome set of bird prints with a fascinating history of how they came about. Size: Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" Tall.
