Front and rear endpapers show discoloration. A monumental work cataloging birds of North America. "Originally prepared for the University Society, and included as three volumes of their famous Nature Lovers Library." Birds are introduced with full scientic data, characteristic habits, and accurate color illustrations. 514 color plates in all. 106 plates were made from original paintings of Louis Agassiz Fuertes ; others are the work of artists R. I. Brasher, R. Bruce Horsfall, and Henry Thurston. B/W photos, along with substantial material, are from the National Association of Audubon Societies, the US Department of Agriculture, the American Museum of Natural History, and many private collections.Very nice copy despite worn dust jacket.
