The purpose of this volume is to set forth facts about the background, sources, authorship, growth, canon, and translation of the Bible. It deals with the evolution of "The Book" from its earliest beginnings to the point of development where we now find it. These chapters, with a few exceptions, appeared serially in The Christian Science Monitor, and are published with the permission of the Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society.
