Green cloth with embossing and gold stamping on spine and front cover. Black-and-white frontispiece illustration; beautiful sepia decorations on every page of the text. This is a Christmas story by Andrews (1860-1936), an extremely prolific novelist who was still publishing books up to a year or two before she died. (Her best known work is The Perfect Tribute, a ficitonal account of Abraham Lincoln's meeting with a dying Confederate soldier. It sold more than 600,000 copies and was made into a movie starring Jason Robards, Jr., in 1991.) General edgewear and shelfwear; corners and spine ends a tad bumped; endpapers heavily toned, but interior pages are clean. Front cover has a light line of discoloration, about 4" long but barely noticeable. Edition not stated, possibly a first. (Copyright page states, "Copyright 1908/The Bobbs-Merrill Company/October.").
