About this Item
Better Spoken English. By Geoffrey Barnard. Published by Macmillan & Co Ltd in 1963. A Reprint. Hardcover. 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches. Page number:197. This book is described as being for students who have already some grasp of English and wish to improve; but Bernard uses extracts from The Ancient Mariner, Oliver Goldsmith, and Alice in Wonderland for his lessons so it is actually teaching at a fairly advanced level and a fine introduction to English literature. The black and white illustrations are by Jennetta Vise. Condition: Very Good. The boards are only a very little worn. The pages are clean but slightly marked by tidy annotations in pen or pencil, plus one pencil mark (a child's) on the last end paper. The previous owner has written his name in biro on the title page. There is no dust jacket. Seller Inventory # 000593
