This VG- quality third format book (gray binding with blue lettering) was first published in 1918 by Cupples & Leon. It is 7-5/8" tall and has 242 numbered pages of text followed by 2 unnumbered pages of ads. This book is square, is mildly soiled, free of edge dings with the upper front corner lightly bumped; head and heel of the spine are also very lightly bumped with no fabric damage but some color loss; the bottom edges have substantial wear but the boards are not exposed. The top front corner has a faint crease in the board and the bottom of the rear board has a similar crease--neither board is broken nor is their strength compromised. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. The front hinge is quite strong and and undamaged; though the end paper covering the rear hinge is tearing, it too is strong but with just a bit of "give" to it. The frontis is present and not damaged. The paper is mildly toned but very flexible. The series lists at the rear of the book lists all 14 titles in this Baseball Joe series. The VG- quality jacket is mildly soiled with a slightly faded spine. It has small chips at both front corners and slight wear along the front fold, small chips at the head of the spine, plus a 2" tear at the top of the rear panel and a 1-1/2" tear at the top of the rear fold, with creases between these two tears.
