Original illustrated wraps 17x23cm. Printed at the Government Press, Ministry of Information, Bahrain. (122)pp including texts in Arabic and English, b/w photos, and local adverts, and (3)pp royal portraits. Near fine. Prepared for attendees and other stakeholders, this is unrecorded on Worldcat or Jisc. Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa formed the Bahrain Red Crescent Society in Manama in 1971 with 25 founder members including merchants, business leaders and state officials. It was recognised by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in 1972. Up to 1980, it raised health awareness in towns and villages, provided clothes, school uniforms and transport, improved the condition of beggars, created two baby homes, sewing classes, a blood bank, hair dressing centre for girls from poor families, a social services committee, seasonal aid etc. It also provided support to to Pakistan, India, Lebanon, Romania, Somalia and Palestine. It held its first International Charity Bazaar in 1972, and every two years since, attended by Ministries, foreign embassies, local and foreign firms, minority groups, and women's societies. This describes its history and organisation, important achievements, and the Bazaar itself, with full page plan of Andalus Gardens and list of stallholders. There are statements of goodwill from representatives of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, the Palestinian Red Crescent, Egypt, Pakistan, India, South Korea, UK, US and France, and from domestic ministries.
