About this Item

Advance uncorrected proof and said to be scarce because of a theft of copies from a warehouse. Signed by Dunning on the title page with date 4-9-95. Book was published in 1995 even though the first page of this proof shows probable publication date of April 1994. This advanced reading copy (ARC) in basically as new condition, though not quite fresh and crisp so graded as near fine. No indication it has been read. Format is softcover (typical for ARCs) with cover picturing the blood stained cover of a fictional edition of the Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, with the blood staining also affecting the design of the notice that this is an advance sample proof. About this title

Synopsis:

Surprised by a visit from a difficult-to-manage former cop from his old precinct, bookstore owner Cliff Janeway is unable to resist Slater's invitation to help recover a stolen edition of a rare and valuable book. 30,000 first printing. Tour.

Review:

The sequel to the popular Booked to Die. Cliff Janeway, Denver cop-turned-book-dealer, finds himself chasing down a charming young fugitive named Eleanor Rigby, who has stolen a rare copy of Poe's "The Raven" for reasons of her own. Trouble follows, and Eleanor disappears into a city filled with people who want the book, and don't care what they have to do to get it. Stuffed with fascinating book lore, this mystery is a bibliophile's dream.
