Quarto (14 x 10 ins); pp 148 + 136; with 72 full-page captioned lithographs each with a protective guard sheet, and numerous woodcut vignettes in the text including illustrated chapter initials. In the publisher's pictorial cloth with gilt and black lettering to front and spine. All edges gilt. Edges of boards and corner tips lightly rubbed. Occ. light foxing to preliminary pages in both vols. Text blocks square and sound. A VG+ set in publisher's binding.
