Interesting provenance in that the handstamp of the Hnausa, Manitoba Icelandic rreading society (called Lestrarfjelag) appears on front free endpaper and this book is identified as #863. A book of poems in the Icelandic language, which includes the anthemic Icelandic-Canadian poem 'Sandy Bar'. The author, who lived near Riverton, north of Gimli, Manitoba is considered the second most important Icelandic-Canadian poet by scholars. Guttormsson was "a leading Icelandic poet" (Kirkconnell, Canadian overtones). He was a celebrated poet both in Iceland and Canada. Referenced in Hjartar, page 21. Peel(3rd Ed.) #4591.
