The stage of the Amsterdam Theater with a representation of the Woods. Lettered on the bottom:'Het Bosch Melpomen, zweevend' met Thalije bly van zin, / Ontmoet de Dichtkunst en de tiende Zanggodin, / En zoekt, schoon Momus lacht, de gunst der Poezije / Wier Zuster, 't vrolijk Bosch verbeeldt in Schilderije.' Realized with three plates: one of the stage, another for the proscenium arch, public and orchestra and a third for the text on the bottom. The second plate is signed:'Te Amsterdam by J. SMIT met Privilegie. Etching on paper with margins; internal plate: 149 x 270 ca. (irregular border); framing plate: 295 x 411 mm; third plate: 42 x 353 mm; total: 432 x 552 mm.
