Antique comic Christmas card with real photo paste-on of a kitten in a china bowl which looks like it is smiling. Front panel titled 'A Christmas Smile'. Circa 1890, an extremely rare example of a real-photo Christmas card. Oblong 5" x 4" folded card which opens vertically, real photograph, 2" x 2 1/2", pasted into printed frame, all printing in gilt, including interior Christmas greeting. 'Copyrighted by F.E. Dyer' in small type at bottom of front panel. Greeting inside states: 'This jolly Merry Christmas cat, Brings you my Greeting true;, And when you see his smiling face, I'm sure that you'll smile too.' Condition: Very Good and UNUSED card with only minor wear and blemishes. See both photos enlarged. Seller Inventory # 04029
