A magazine, measuring approx. 11 in. x 14 in. 32 pp. (217-289). It began publication in November 1899. Illustrated in black and white with drawings, reproductions of photos, etc. Advertisements. The magazine contained fiction and non-fiction articles of interest to boys; some articles or stories were spread over a number of issues. In this issue: "Rattlesnake Pete," (W. H. Liddiard) written by Cheyenne Bob tells how a scout, plainsman, and deputy U. S. Marshall got his nickname. There were puzzles and games, and departments such as The Boy Photographer, The Boy Traveler, What Boys are Doing, etc. This issue has small tears on the edges and some dusting. Scarce early issue.
