Imprint/Publisher information: Akureyri : Páll Magnússon, 1977. Gen. note Ljósprentað 1977 Subject: Tímarit/Journal . 80 pages in total. 19 cm. Reprint of five issues of the journal/serial 'Amerika', each with separate title page and table of contents. Amerika, a serial in pamphlet format, was originally published in 1873-4 in Akureyri, and was likely written by immigration agents to lure Icelanders to 'America' - i.e., the USA and Canada. Note that Icelanders of this era referred to both Canada and the U. S. as 'Amerika', but in fact most setllers from Iceland emigrated to Manitoba, Canada during the settlement period. Hence aimed at Icelandic-Canadian settlers. They provide geographical information on North America (mostly Canada) and embellished accounts of living conditions there. In Fine condition in unbound pamphlet format. Sold as a 5-part set. Bookseller Inventory # 29633
