Book Description 1st ed., 1941. 207 pp., frontis., + maps. D.j., 22 x 14cm. A little chipping & wear to d.j., o/w V.G. This is a full length biography of Alexander Suvorov, the Russian military genius of the eighteenth century who defeated the hitherto invincible armies of Frederick the Great and invaded Berlin. Suvorov was not only a great commander and leader of men but also a daring innovator far in advance of his time. He revolutionised both the military strategy of his time and also the whole organisation of the Russian army. This book gives a fascinating account of the personality of Suvorov in relation to the background of the international arena of the eighteenth century and describes the innumerable difficulties with which he had to contend, notably from the inefficiency, jealousy and intrigues of the Feudal Court.
