A very early and important annual Icelandic-Canadian/American Lutheran theological and lliterary/cultural periodical. Devoted entirely to North American affairs notwithstanding the fact it was published in Iceland for part of its existance. It was edited by a noted Icelandic-Canadian Lutheran clergyman and writer, Friðrik J.Bergmann, who grew noticeably more liberal in his religious views during this period. This journal featured addresses delivered at annual meetings of the North American Icelandic Lutheran Synod (whose headquarters were in Winnipeg); articles on religion and morality. Includes a section on book reviews. Kristjanson and Einarsson praise the editor's literary abilities as an essayist (see for example Einarsson, History of Icelandic Prose Writers, p. 236). Rev. Jon Bjarnason of Winnipeg, a key figure in North American Icelandic religious and cultural matters, was a frequent contributor to this annual periodical. At time of cataloguing, a few scattered volumes only on AMICUS; not in Peel; Not listed at Cornell. Rare indeed. Bookseller Inventory # 39205
