About this Item
This VG- quality book was copyrighted in 1917 and published by Barse & Hopkins; it is 7-7/8" tall with 245 numbered pages of text followed by 7 unnumbered pages of ads. It does not fit any of the formats in Mattson & Davis's bibliography but comes closest to format #1. This book--a pinkish-brown cloth binding with black lettering--has a slight lean, is quite clean, free of edge dings with the lower front corner lightly bumped; the head and heel of the spine are also bumped, with some color loss at both places but no fraying. The bottom edges have a moderate amount of wear. The spine is not faded and is clean and the lettering and image are still intact. The serene image on the front panel is intact and not damaged--this is the only one of the 5 books that I have in this series that has red, which is on both the spine as well as the front panel images. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. The text paper is very mildly toned and is quite flexible and not at all brittle. The frontis plus three are on coated paper and are clean and intact. Both hinges are strong and not damaged in any way. Plus this series has, in my opinion, the best series end page illustration of all. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book. The list at the front of the book lists all six titles of this series. Seller Inventory # BMR-2020-8-17-6
