This 10.0 x 12.5, 256 page book is a beautiful piece of work filled with striking drawings, illustrations, and pictures from several centuries of sailing ships. The book itself is in near fine condition. It is a large volume and the blue cloth covering shows very little time or handling wear. The corners show only the most moderate of scuffing although the two bottom corners show a very slight bumping. The design and lettering of the cover are clean, clear, and free of damage. The interior of the book shows a previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown but beyond that the text pages are in beautiful condition and exciting to look at. The many illustrations give the reader a wonderful glimpse into the age of sail and the early challenge of exploring the earth's oceans. The dust jacket is only in fair condition. It is made of heavy paper with a plastic overlay but this has not prevented several large tears to the front and back panels, both top and bottom, as illustrated by our picture. No material is missing from the jacket and with a mylar protective cover this jacket is still in very good condition. 256 pages. Seller Inventory # 1505-435
