Small octavo, mildly soiled paper covers, with wear to the spine an a short tear to the front cover, tipped-in photo of Magnes on the frontispiece page, 308 pp. Inscribed on the title page by Magnes to Joseph Levy, the New York Times correspondent to Palestine. Levy grew up in Ottoman Palestine. The times hired him as a correspondent in 1928. He must have gotten on very well politically with Magnes as he was knowledgeable and tolerant in relation to the Arabs of Palestine. The inscription is dated the year of publication. Supposedly he was transferred by the New York Times to Cairo the year before so it is unclear whether or not Magnes and Levy came together over this copy or if it was presented through the British colonial mail service.
