First UK edition, no dust wrapper. Red boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Covers are well thumbed and rubbed, some fading and white marks. Head and tail of spine bumped, corners smooth and bear some wear. Spine lightly sunned. Pastedowns and title pages bear moderate discolouration and foxing, so too the occasional page throughout. Pages throughout are discoloured due to age. Previous owner's inscription on front free endpaper along side previous bookseller's price in pen. Page edges well thumbed, discoloured and lightly rubbed. Binding neat.
