"Apparently a variant issue to Wroth 685, of which only the one copy in the British Museum is known and which seems to bear no colophon, or other typographical indications. These special shares, which had been issued in payment of army supplies, and had been endorsed by the Sieurs de Sauroy and de la Jonchere, are henceforth to be considered as ordinary shares in the Compagnie d'Occident, and these gentlemen thereby relieved of all responsibility with regard to them" - Maggs. No copies in OCLC. Rare. From the library of Cardinal Etienne Charles de Lomenie de Brienne (1727-94), Minister of Louis XVI, Archbishop of Toulouse and of Sens. A friend of Voltaire and a member of the Académie Française, Brienne wielded significant power as head of the Finance Ministry, which earned him many enemies.
