[vi] + 270 + [1] pp. Bound in original red cloth, gilt with contrasting white spine title label, gilt, in unclipped dust wrapper, which has has chips at head and tail of spine with small missing section at head and browning of edges and rear wrapper. Top edge red. A little wear to extremities and foxing of fore edge; otherwise a very good copy. Inscribed by author as Rache to Edwyna and Michael (Hilary). The early life and career in Australia, Rhodesia and Canada of Horatio Henry Lovat Dickson (1902-87), Australian born writer, biographer and publisher (general manager of Macmillan 1941-64), who spent much of his literary career in England. Among the subjects of his biographies were Grey Owl, H. G. Wells and Richard Hillary (1919-43), Battle of Britain fighter pilot famous for his book The Last Enemy (1942). This copy is inscribed to Hilary's Australian parents, Edwyna and Michael Hilary, by the author as Rache, short for one of his names, Horatio.
