This book will appeal to the novice fishing float builder, tempted to have a go at making their own floats or someone who has already made a few but wants to extend their range. It describes how I make my floats which are based on traditional styles and made from readily available materials and basic tools. The book leads the reader through the techniques required to make many different floats, starting with an Avon float, going from preparing materials right through to painting and varnishing. On the way a few simple tools or jigs are constructed to make life easier. Various different patterns and materials are covered and over 30 types of float are made. There are chapters on materials that you can forage for yourselves from you own garden or local parks and details of some interesting and unusual floats which are rarely seen elsewhere. In putting this book together I physically made each float referred to, following the narrative, so anyone following these builds should not have too much head scratching.
