Synopsis
The Courtesans is a captivating tale of two women, separated by more than four and a half centuries.
Born in the sixteenth century, Kitsune Hosokawa is a stunning courtesan who is enlisted by the Kurita clan, the rulers of Musashi province, to become their most valuable and lethal spy. When the existential threat of an imminent invasion by a neighboring province is uncovered, Kitsune is tasked with assassinating the mastermind of the attack, the malevolent and greedy Minister Nishizawa. Using all of her skills of deception and wile, she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of cat and mouse upon the famous Tokaido Road.
Akemi Hosokawa is a top tier escort living in modern day Tokyo. Her extraordinary beauty and intellect have brought her to the top of her world; a lifestyle of glamour and prestige. But all this comes crashing down around her when a group of Yakuza gangsters stage a violent takeover of her place of work. Suddenly plunged into danger and chaos, Akemi’s life is at risk and her survival in doubt. The clock is ticking and Akemi soon realizes her days are numbered. As her peril increases, she desperately knows she must do something to escape but her Yakuza bosses hold all the cards.
