From the Author

misprint corrections and request for help from readerss
I've found a few serious misprints in my book, and want to warn readers about them. (If you find something you think might be a misprint I'd be grateful if you emailed me at

M.Haight@philosophy.arts.gla.ac.uk

- if I'm not overwhelmed with emails I might even get back to you about whether it really is one!) I've also asked Routledge to put an updated list on the web page mentioned in the preface - which will soon (though not yet - 1 Dec. 1999) also have the interactive exercises promised in that same preface.

Good luck with the book - Mary Haight
