On 10 April 1912, 2 first, 1 second and 28 third-class Norwegian passengers boarded the Titanic. Only 10 of them were to survive the sinking five days later. This book is about those 31 individuals. In many ways, the various elements of their story belong just as much to the other non-English speaking passengers who were on board.

‘Titanic – 31 Norwegian Destinies’ starts off with a look into the vast emigration from Norway to America and a detailed account of each passenger’s background, and finishes off with what happened to the survivors and the many bereaved Norwegian families.

The book also considers the ‘Samson’ story. Would Officer Henrik Naess really have fabricated the barque’s role on that cold April night?

Per Kristian Sebak took four years to complete this book. The book contains more than 140 pictures, most of which have never been published in an English book before.

‘Titanic – 31 Norwegian Destines’ was published in Norwegian in February 1998 (Titanic – 31 norske skjebner, ISBN 8247600439), and was well received by both public and critics:

‘...impressive, really impressive... very detailed’, Bergensavisen, 14 February 1998

‘...the book as a whole is an absorbing and interesting reading experience... great respect for this book project.', Sandefjord Blad, 21 February 1998

‘The book should be the first of several documentary books from his hand, because he will most certainly have many readers...’, Trønderbladet, 26 February 1998

'...having a fascination for the Titanic’s ‘people’ this is possibly the most detailed and informative work I have come across.' -- British Titanic Society's 'Atlantic Daily Bulletin', Number 4, 1998
