Synopsis

Recent years have seen a tremendous growth in both the complexity and demand for embedded computing systems. Embedded systems are employed everywhere: anti-lock brakes, cruise control systems, navigation systems, digital cameras, cell-phones, video games, printers, scanners, security systems, medical testing systems, and smart home appliances are just a few examples. Among the many parameters used to characterize the quality of an embedded system design, power consumption has emerged as one of the most important. In this book we present a framework to efficiently estimate power consumption of embedded system-on-a-chip (SoC) designs. The book is designed to provide both researchers and practitioners with a new way to look at some of the challenges that characterize the fast advancing field of embedded systems.

About the Author

studied electrical engineering at University of Genoa, Italy and University of Hawaii where he received his Ph.D. He is currently an associate professor and chair of the Dept. of Engineering at Eastern Washington University. Before joining EWU he worked at Univ. of Arizona, Univ. of Hawaii, Infineon Technologies, IKOS Systems and Marconi SpA.
