The proposed work in this book deals with improving the thickening properties of Tamarind gum chemically and using it for printing with disperse and reactive dyes on polyester and cotton material respectively. The modification of TKP was carried out by treatment with acetic acid, oxidation in alkaline condition and derivatization into anionic polymer by treatment with pre-polymerized acrylic acid. It was found that acrylated tamarind kernel thickener gives better performance in terms of colour yield, fastness properties and economy in both reactive and disperse printing.
