Synopsis
This workbook was developed for participants in the UnityWorks Diversity Training Institute. The Institute is an intensive, hands-on 40-hour professional course designed to prepare educators with the knowledge, tools, strategies and resources needed to improve school culture and student learning, and to design and carry out a successful Diversity Action Plan.
The book may also be used for individual and group study as part of a self-guided learning experience. Most of the readings, worksheets, planning tools and other handouts are self-explanatory. A few of the items (e.g., the quizzes and daily review questions) are discussed during class, and the answers will be part of a forthcoming facilitator’s manual.
We hope you will find these materials useful and engaging. Our goal is to assist you to effectively address the diversity issues in your own organization, and to promote unity, equity and inclusion in our communities and schools.
