Robert Louis Stevenson was a novelist, essayist and poet. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1850. Stevenson has written some of the greatest works in literature and these include Treasure Island, Kidnapped and The Black Arrow. Although he never enjoyed good health, he travelled widely. His final home was in the tropical island of Samoa, where he died in 1894. His novel in this edition was abridged by John Kennett.
