From the Author:
The purpose of this book is to take the fear out of being interviewed and to give you the tools to be able to approach interviews with confidence and a strong sense of purpose.

It has been an enjoyable challenge to bring together all of the tips and advice that I have gathered over ten years of working in the careers industry. The book has been structured in a way that covers everything from securing an interview to the point of signing your contract of employment. Each chapter is made up of `bite-sized' pieces some of which may appear flippant at times but I can assure you that each one has an important message. I have deliberately made an effort to write the tips from an employer's point of view and I have not been afraid to unmask some of the strategies that clients adopt when conducting interviews.

We are all guilty of overlooking the fundamentals, especially when we become more proficient in something, and therefore I have aimed to create a guide that you can refer to as your career develops in the future.

If I were only able to give you one `top tip' then it would be this: remember that an interview is merely
a two-way conversation and not an interrogation.
It is an opportunity for you to tell your story, to sell
your strengths and to communicate enthusiastically your ambitions to someone who wants to listen. In the busy world that we live in today, we are rarely granted this luxury. If you keep this one thought in mind you will be one step closer to the success that you deserve.

And finally, why are manhole covers round? If you ever interview with Microsoft you may need a sensible answer!

Use this book wisely and I wish you every success for the future.

My very best wishes
Charlie
