This is a new edition of this best-selling "Scottie", recast and rewritten for readers of 10 upwards. The aims of the Jacobites and the background to the risings of Viscount Dundee (1689), the Earl of Mar (1715), and Charles Edward Stuart (1745) are explained, and this colourful but bloody period in Scotland's past brought vividly to life. The telling is illuminated by extracts from original documents, genealogical chart of the royal families of Scotland and England, and maps and battle plans. Review:
' ... the hundred or so pictures in this short booklet are superbly chosen and used. ... The text is intelligent and clear, with a huge amount of information fitted in to a few words. ... I really cannot recommend it too highly.' History Teaching Review 'This book is suitable for children ten years and over. It is easy to read, understandable and has a lot of colour pictures inside.'
