A substantial monograph of an important Roman site in Buckinghamshire. It is written in a very accessible style as the project formed part of lottery funded research. Little did the team know at the beginning that they were going to re-write the text book for Hambleden and the Romans in Bucks! Much of the information in the academic press is shown to be incorrect and this book explains the facts as this was the first time anyone had looked through the finds from an excavation in 1912. That excavation was undertaken so well, with locations and depths marked on every find, that the stratigraphy could be put into the site for the first time. This proved vital for changing our views on Romans in the Hambleden Valley.
