The book is aimed at student nurses, health care assistants, and newly qualified nurses and is very much a "how to do it" book about good practice in palliative care nursing The book takes a sensitive and supportive approach to the key themes of palliative care nursing and will provide the reader with a concise and easy to read practical text that will give direction to the challenges faced in this most important area of patient care. Each chapter examines a key component of care and includes: ·Clinical anecdotes ·Extensive use of bullet points ·Appropriate references ·Internet resources ·A "least you need to know" section ·Links to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct (2002) From the Author The emphasis in this book is on making the reader aware of the extensive material that currently exists that is accepted good practice in using the palliative care approach. There are already a number of excellent texts on the market which provide a detailed meta analysis of theoretical and research based concepts from a nursing perspective and ompliment academic studies in the field. For many nurses, however, there are often occasions in clinical practice when there is a need for one compact text, which offers comprehensive, evidence based, practice guidelines across the spectrum of palliative care scenarios to provide a trigger and opportunity for reflection and learning. This is where this book fits.
