'Rune Magic' provides a fascinating overview of the history and practice of rune use, from its very outset to the present day. Runemaster Nigel Pennick describes the various systems in use across Europe, drawing on documentary examples from as far back as Viking times, and explores the whole spectrum of runic practice, including rune stones, amulets, talismans, insigils (runic monograms), and how to use and interpret bind runes.
A complete system of rune magic is described here, from the initial stages to the higher levels, with practical tips regarding methods and materials, runic meditation and visualization techniques, ceremonies for rune empowerment, as well as tree magic, sea magic, thought magic and shamanic magic.
Two hitherto unpublished subjects are covered in detail: the craft tradition of metalwork in relation to runes, and runic numerology. Finally, tables of runic correspondences with, for example, divinities, trees, essential oils, colours and the seasons, combine to make ' Rune Magic' the most comprehensive and fascinating book on the runes and their applications, past and present.
About the Author
Nigel Pennick has studied the runes and practiced runic principles since 1960. He has written numerous books and papers on European folk traditions, customs and beliefs and has seen his work translated into nine languages. Co-founder of the influential magazine ARCANA, he has appeared on both radio and television in the UK.
