For millenia customs and rituals have been one of the cornerstones on which evolving civilisations have been built. These have developed in widely different ways, just as lifestyles have varied greatly between different continents, countries and regions. Many customs are related to religion. You can find out about them and learn how to make artefacts that were, and sometimes still are, important to various religions such as a Tribal dance wand and a Viking lucky charm. This informative book of history projects also demonstrates the different crafts and entertainments that existed in ancient civilizations and shows how to make these artefacts and recreate the games û allowing children to go back in time and have many hours of fun at the same time. Evidence has shown that as long ago as 50,000 years, humans were decorating their bodies, tools and homes with patterns and symbols in a similar way that we do today. This book examines the wall paintings, home decorations and body paintings and includes projects that show how to recreate them. For example, there are simple-to-follow projects to make a Japanese ikebana, a Stone Age cave painting and a Greek vase. Toys and games have changed dramatically through the ages and this book shows how to make and play games from ancient times such as Greek knucklebones and the Roman dux game. Each project is clearly explained step by-step and is illustrated with colour photographs. Learning about history has never been easier and more enjoyable.
