The Paradise Construction Company is a new collection of poetry by formalist poet and translation-prize winner (John Florio Prize, Monselice Prize) JG Nichols. A selection of his finest poems, it follows on from his previous collection The Flighty Horse (Liverpool University Press), and will be of great local interest to those living around Liverpool, Merseyside and the Wirral. The ambiguity in the title of this collection hints at the ludic note which is so pervasive in it. About the Author:
J.G. Nichols was born in Liverpool and lives on the Wirral. His previous volume of poetry is The Flighty Horse. He has translated poetry by Gozzano (for which he won the John Florio Prize), Leopardi, and Petrarch (for which he was awarded the Monselice Prize). His recent translations include several classic prose works, mainly from Italian. He is currently working on a verse translation of The Divine Comedy.
