Synopsis

Elsie is still only a young elephant, but decides  she should start looking for a job. But what could the perfect job for her be?

She could be a chef and cook yummy treats, or she could be a musician and join the parakeet band! After trying lots of jobs from being a musician to an artist, Elsie begins to give up hope. They've all ended in disaster!

But when an emergency breaks out at the Snack Shack, Elsie's perfect job is found - a firefighter!

The bright illustrations are a joy to look at, adding more drama to this cute tale. 

The reader warms to Elsie as she tries to find her role and learns that we should never give up; something always turns up. QED's Storytime books are an excellent collection - there is plenty of variety, with a range of excellent authors and illustrators giving a different feel to each book. Schools and libraries would do well to purchase each one in the collection in the knowledge this would give a well-rounded selection.

About the Author:

Besides being a writer of children's books, JODIE PARACHINI is a nonfiction editor who has worked in London, New York and Washington, DC. She has edited and produced titles such as 1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up. She has two daughters and currently lives in North London.

Caroline Pedler grew up in Cornwall but moved to Portsmouth, Bristol and Bath for 13 years before returning to her hometown in 2005. Her career started when she was commissioned by Hallmarks Cards UK in 1997, her career has since gone from strength to strength. Caroline has illustrated with a variety of different children publishers, including QED, and her books can be found worldwide and in over 10 languages.
