?In the 10th edition of Introduction to Cataloging and Classification, Arlene G. Taylor offers a complete revision of her classic work....[p]ractitioners will appreciate its comprehensive, yet readable, treatment of the topic.?-American Libraries
?[T]his text will be extremely useful for cataloging teachers and their students. Practicing catalogers may use the text as a reference or training tool. I highly recommend this text and reference book for cataloging departments and libraries.?-Reference & User Services Quarterly
?This is not a book of cataloging examples. Rather, it is a book to help new catalogers understand both conceptually and in detail the profession which they are entering. From the point of view of someone in the profession, this book contains very useful information and does an excellent job of presenting "the big picture" as well as necessary fundamentals. It offers thorough coverage of topics needed for understanding of cataloging and classification in today's libraries. For those who have not read this book, it is highly recommended. For those who are familiar with the book, the revisions, additions and overall updating of terminology and concepts will be appreciated.?-Technical Services Quarterly

"The professional collections of librarians, students, and educators would be enhanced by including the 10th edition of this work. Those who have enjoyed the 9th or previous editions will appreciate the effort that has gone into updating the 10th edition to include more discussion about the impact of technology in cataloging management and the importance of the international view on cataloging principles and practice. Those for whom the 10th edition is their first reading of this text will discover the immense breadth of topics covered within and the careful presentation of key cataloging concepts that many have come to expect from the editors." - Library Collections, Aquisitions, & Technical Services

In the latest edition of this classic work, Arlene Taylor once again offers a complete, up-to-date, and practical guide to the world of cataloging and classification. Since the publication of the ninth and ninth-revised editions (2000 and 2004), changes have occurred in almost all areas of the organization of information in general, as well as in cataloging and classification. The 10th edition incorporates the "2002 Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, Second Edition" (AACR2), MARC 21, the 22nd edition of "Dewey Decimal Classification", current schedules of the LC Classifications, the latest Library of Congress Subject Headings, and the 18th edition of the "Sears List of Subject Headings". In addition, Taylor addresses such vital issues as FRBR (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records), FAST (Faceted Application of Subject Terminology), and the Semantic Web. The bibliography and glossary have also been substantially reworked. In fact, only the appendix, which covers arrangement dilemmas and filing rules, remains unchanged.
