Updating and expanding Russell Barkley's "Handbook", this 2nd edition incorporates late-1990s findings on the nature, diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of ADHD. As in the previous edition, Barkley is assisted with selected chapters by colleagues covering their respective areas of expertise and providing guidelines for practice in clinical, school and community settings. In-depth assessment and treatment guidelines for adolescents and adults as well as children are supported by updated outcomes documentation and three new chapter focus sepcifically on working with adults. The second edition also explicates Barkley's theory of ADHD as a developmental problem of self-control, evaluates DSM-IV diagnostic criteria, and surveys established and emerging pharmacological approaches.
