It covers basic concepts like terms, the history of assessment, its purpose and use, the assessment process, and ethical, legal, and professional issues and assessment standards; statistics and measurement considerations, including scales of measurement, reliability, validity, correlation, test development, measures of central tendency and variability, and raw score transformation; common assessment tasks used at the beginning of the counseling relationship to gauge mental health and substance abuse symptoms; types of assessment, including career development, interests and values, interpersonal relationships, and personality; and communicating findings and developing a research report.
