Review:

If your kids are curious about the bugs around (and inside) your cottage, they'll love this colourful book.--Roam New Roads Blog (09/14/2015)

Dourlot's gallery of arthropods is a visually arresting introduction to insects and spiders.... Certainly [her] fascination enlivens a text that both marvels about a creature's life cycle and behavior and appreciates its contribution in both sound and sight to the overall natural landscape... Durable both physically and in content, Dourlot's striking tome promises active library usage.-- (12/01/2009)

Translated from the 2008 French original (published by Editions Larousse), this attractive, oversized volume offers a survey of insects laid out one to a page in superb color photographs that are presented against backgrounds of collecting boxes or naturalist notebook pages so that the reader has the sense of peering into intriguing vitrines in a dusty natural history museum. The facing page tells the natural history of each insect, including the origin of its name, special characteristics, behavior, diet, and status, with frequent inset boxes of related facts that add to the bug's story and allure.-- (12/01/2010)
