Synopsis

Timothy Button is raised by his loving grandmother, Mrs. Plumpstead, after tragically losing both his parents in an avalanche in the French Alps when he was only seven. As a result, he develops an aversion to everything French and clashes with his teacher Miss. Simpson, who makes life extremely difficult for him. At the same time, he develops a crush on one of his classmates, the beautiful Jessica, who is rich, snobbish, and obsessed with French. She cannot stand the fact that Timothy is at the top of the class in all subjects while he is very poor at French, which she adores and excels at. Timothy prays that he could somehow magically learn the French language in order to escape his teacher's torments and to gain Jessica's favour. His prayers are finally answered once he develops a close friendship with a Professor Felix Festelwinker, who takes up residence in an old castle just outside Timothy's village. The ingenious professor invents a machine which he uses to literally download the French language into Timothy's brain, enabling Timothy to be fluent in French in a matter of minutes, thus making his wish come true.

About the Author

CS Christy was born in 1970 in London, England, and is the eldest son of three children. After graduating from high school he decided not to go to University and went straight to work instead. Over the years, he has held various jobs including 'factory worker' turned 'manager', as well as managing a call centre. At the age of thirty eight he decided to pursue his lifelong ambition of studying philosophy. He enrolled at the University of London where he studied part-time in the evenings and gained both BA and MA degrees in philosophy. "Timothy Button and the Amazing Knowledge Machine" is his first book, which stems from an idea he had way back during his school days. Although a work intended mainly for children between the ages of about nine and fifteen, the author believes it can be enjoyed by people of any age group. CS Christy enjoys reading, travelling and especially good conversation.
