Preparation for the PSSA English Language Arts Tests

Students take the PSSA English Language Arts assessments each year. Questions testing language and vocabulary skills make up about a third of the total score.

The test includes standalone multiple-choice questions where students identify writing errors, determine how to best complete sentences, or choose the best revision to a passage. Language and vocabulary skills are also assessed as part of the reading tasks, with some of the questions following passages covering language and vocabulary use.
