Praise For Fulfilling My Destiny, Step By Step Dr. Robert Shepard's book, Fulfilling My Destiny, Step by Step, speaks with clarity to parents and adults. It is a confirmation of some educators' belief that all basic learning takes place before the sixth year and all later learning is but an elaboration of the earlier. Dr. Eric H. Erikson's Growth and Crises of the Healthy Personality believes that a child acquires a sense of basic trust and basic mistrust by the time s/he is twelve to fifteen months old; the experience of basic trust or basic mistrust in the early years is a foundation for the capacity for faith in God. From the beginning of life to the end we must walk by trust or faith, which at first may be in man but ultimately must be transferred to God. Dr. Shepard's book speaks to our need today to speak through the language of relationships as well as through words. We need the grace to be in order to help others to become. This book also speaks to youth. Everyone is born with a spiritual gift, or purpose; call it what you may. It is incumbent upon everyone to discover his or her gift, to cultivate it, and to make the best use of it. To this end may this book be dedicated. -The late Rev. Dr. Nilous M. Avery, Sr., Former Pastor, Hill Street Baptist Church, Asheville, Nc
