A unique and gentle art-therapy-based book to help children come to terms with their sadness through creativity
Picturing My Sadness encourages children to become 'sadness artists', using their amazing minds to get to know and show their sadness. Children are asked to think about the colours, textures and shapes that express the look and feel of sadness to them. Children consider and recognise how they act when they're sad and how they can 'speak' about sadness through art if finding words is hard, including learning the practice of mandalas. At the end of the book, children have a set of self-made resources to use again and again when they need a reminder of their creative coping skills.

Anna lives in Edinburgh near the sea with her partner and 2 children (her biggest teachers). She has been an Art Psychotherapist for many, many years working in the voluntary sector, social services and in private practice. She is also a Mindfulness Practitioner. Anna loves to paint and sit by the sea with a big cup of tea!
Alicia Más is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Elche - Spain's palm tree city. She is passionate about psychology and loves all that has to do with education and children; that's why, after studying fine arts in Valencia, she went on to complete a master's degree in teaching.
She lived in London for a while, where she started her career as an illustrator and graphic designer in 2013.
She had worked at different advertising agencies when things changed. Her idea for a children's book was accepted and published by a recognized Spanish publisher. More projects and opportunities arose, allowing her to become a full-time illustrator focused on children's illustration projects today.
