About the Author:
Joel Richman is Emeritus Professor of Medical Anthropology and was formerly head of The School of Sociology and Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has written a number of books n health topics, and distance learning texts in sociology for mental health nursing students.
Dave Mercer is a lecturer in the Division of Nursing at the University of Liverpool, where he is Head of Humanities for undergraduate and post–graduate provision. He has a longstanding interest in, and commitment to, the teaching and application of social science in healthcare. He has co–authored and edited a number of textbooks related to this area of practice.
