I have endeavoured in this volume to present in a collected form a mass of those tradi tions that have from time immemorial been floating among the peasantry of this county. This folk lore, as it has been aptly termed, will Often be found to exhibit beautiful touches of a loving nature as well as fine poetic feeling, and will go far to illustrate the habits and manners of our fore fathers.
