Synopsis
Ian Ferguson awakes in a strange bedroom with no clue where he is or memory how he got there. He is not alone in his predicament. Over the span of a month, middle-age African-American men are vanishing in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Law enforcement is treating the bizarre disappearances as a joke instead of labeling them a kidnapping. It’s not because the victims are black. Statistics show adult men are not kidnapped unless robbery is involved. There’s no ransom demand. Jackie Trumpleton cancels a dream vacation to South Africa with four women she has known twenty plus years and invites them to DC amid the chaos. The women have an unusual relationship. They interact only during annual vacations and abide by an informal Omertà since the vacations are consumed with drinking champagne nonstop, sharing secrets, and exploring sexual adventures. “The Missing Five” is an adult mystery fiction that chronicles the men’s lives and disappearance, and narrates the storytelling episodes of the women. Many secrets are uncovered. Unleashing one solves the mystery and blows the case wide open. Everyone is shocked, except the perpetrator who wears an elaborate mask.

About the Author
Gwen Pegram dares to take chances. She dares to live the life she dreamed for herself. She goes forward and makes her dreams come true. (Quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson). She has many personal accomplishments checked off her bucket list: rode a bicycle 330 miles from NC to DC in the DC Aids Ride, played in the World Series of Poker for Women, finished the More Magazine Marathon for Women over 40 at age 55, and took a three-week vacation of a lifetime to Down Under. She is also a 2002 Living Kidney Donor. She lives with her two furry children, Paco and Princess, 14-year-old Lhasa Apsos. Now, she shares another accomplishment—her debut novel, The Missing Five.
